Communities for a Lifetime has reached Walton County! Joining with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the Walton County Commission and the cities of DeFuniak Springs, Freeport, and Paxton are completing a county-wide community senior needs assessment as a first step to identify quality of life issues of importance for elder citizens and the intergenerational population. Senior citizens will be the primary focus of this initiative.
What is Communities for a Lifetime? Communities for a Lifetime is a statewide initiative, begun in 1999, that assists Florida cities, towns and counties in planning and implementing improvements that benefit their residents, youthful or elder. Communities use existing resources and state technical assistance to make improvements in housing, health care, transportation, accessibility, business partnerships, community education, employment, volunteer opportunities and recreation. |
